Design Philosophy This project was inspired by the Dream Library collection of 423 real nightmares. Rather than treating nightmares as something to defeat or erase, this work explores a different question: What if nightmares are messages rather than enemies? The animation combines psychology, education and storytelling to transform fear into understanding. The visual language follows a transition from darkness to warmth: deep blue dream space, golden dream particles, warm sunlight, and finally, human connection. The Dream Library is presented not as a database, but as a living universe of human emotions and experiences. Concept The story follows Max, a child suffering from recurring nightmares. With the support of his tutor Ying, he learns not to run away from fear, but to understand and rewrite it. At the emotional climax of the film, love is not used to destroy the monster. Instead: love reveals the child hidden inside the monster. The monster transforms into a lonely little girl, symbolising the idea that many fears may originate from unmet emotional needs, loneliness, or the desire to be seen and loved. Message The central message of this work is: Fear is not something to defeat. Fear is something to understand. And: Every dream can have another ending. The project hopes to encourage children, parents and educators to view nightmares not only as frightening experiences, but also as opportunities for communication, empathy and healing. Ultimately, the film conveys one simple idea: Love does not destroy monsters. Love helps them become children again.
